Service Hours Information

6th – 8th Grade Families,

Built by a community that values hard work and high character, Raymond School has always strived to provide each child and family with a first-class educational experience.  When our doors first opened in 1963, this community dedicated this building to not only providing each student with an exceptional educational foundation, but also to instilling and developing not just a great student, but a great person – one who lives with Ambition, Belief, and Character.

To promote the development and skills and qualities that cannot be measured using standard academic grading, all 6th-8th grade students will be required to complete a certain amount of service hours.  The required service hours are as follows:

  • 6th grade: 10 hours
  • 7th grade: 20 hours
  • 8th grade: 30 hours

Any service project or experience should be documented using the new Service Hours Tracking Form.  Your child can have one of these forms completed as he/she goes along and may turn it into the school office right away.

To better prepare our students for high school and beyond, those eligible for graduation as 8th graders will complete an application process which will include a collection of written materials, a letter or form of recommendation, a portfolio of student work, and an exit interview.  With the exception of the service hours, these items will be included within the Raymond School curriculum and students will be given instruction, skill practice, and class time to complete.

Without a doubt, your student is prepared and capable of sharing their ambition, belief, and character while serving others.  Please feel free to reach out via phone or email with any questions.  Throughout the summer and school year, we will share service opportunities via email, on our Facebook page and website.
